As part of the hogatec specialist fair, being held in Düsseldorf, the STAR AWARD has been handed out for the first time. Germany’s most highly subscribed specialist hotel magazine, Top hotel, handed out the award in seven categories.
More than 100 companies submitted their product application in advance in order to be nominated for one of the seven categories (design, power, taste, innovation, concept, longevity and technology). Only three products per category reached the final. In the Top hotel issue of July-August the 21 products nominated were presented to the readers. And they were given the option to vote for their favourites by 22 August.
Dometic entered in the Technology category with the automatic miniBar HiPromatic and was successful. The famous German TV presenter Werner Schulze-Erdel handed over the prize on 29 September to Michael Althaus, the sales manager of Dometic Hotel Systems.

BackgroundWhether it is automatic invoicing, quick checkout or automatic management of stock – HiPromatic miniBars are characterised by a range of technical developments. The new e-Field sensor technology, for instance, registers when a drink is taken out of the miniBar and passes on this information wirelessly to the central computer of the hotel.
Ground-breaking is also the D-win software, which controls and monitors the operation of the miniBar, individually sets the cooling temperature, automatically reports every potential maintenance check and also controls the best before dates of the products.
