The E Star Award is given to companies who have previously won an E Award and is in recognition of their ‘continued superior performance in increasing or promoting exports’. Both awards are the highest US government recognition any domestic entity may receive for supporting export activity.
The award was accepted by Ned Trigg, Senior Vice President Global Systems Sales and Doug Whyte, President Dometic LLC from US Commerce Secretary, Gary Locke in a ceremony in November 2009. On presenting the award Secretary Locke said, ‘I’m a great believer in the ability of American companies and workers to compete anytime, anywhere in the world, on a level playing field. We’re here today to honor the people, firms, and organizations that produce and promote US goods and services that support American jobs. Trade has always been crucial to American prosperity. But, in today’s difficult economic times, with other drivers of growth like consumer spending flagging, it’s even more important for American industry to take advantage of every opportunity for export-driven growth.’
Following the presentation Frank Marciano, President of Dometic’s US marine division paid credit to his team. ‘This is a great honour for our company and employees to be recognized once again as one of the top performers in exporting.’
The US marine division‘s export business represents about 42 percent of the its annual revenues and exports have grown by an average of 35 percent year on year from 2005 through 2008.
