Dometic Marine Customises Air Conditioning System For Baltic Yachts



Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning specialist Dometic Marine has recently completed delivery of its latest custom built air conditioning system to high performance yacht builder, Baltic Yachts in Finland. The 270,000 BTU system has been custom designed and manufactured by Dometic Marine Engineers for the new build ’Panamax Ketch’ and provides a lightweight and quiet system in accordance with owner’s representative specifications for the 60 metre sailing yacht.

The air conditioning system includes a 270,000 BTU Marine Air customised chiller and WhisperCool AT-DC air handlers with exceptionally quiet brushless DC fan motors, as well as a fully networked onboard control system and electric heat option to heat or cool individual cabins. Confirming Dometic Marine’s commitment to supporting its OEM customers, the company’s expert team has assisted Baltic Yachts throughout design and layout stages, reviewing plans and measurements to ensure the system fully meets the owner’s requirement. At the end of the installation process, expected autumn 2010, the project team will verify the system to ensure all equipment meets Dometic’s exacting standards as well as provide on-site training and complete documentation for crew.

Based on the West Coast of Finland, Baltic Yachts is a world-renowned builder of high performance sailing yachts and has a long-standing relationship with Dometic Marine as its preferred supplier of marine air conditioning. The company builds semi-custom yachts ranging from 15 – 20 meters and full-custom yachts up to 60 metres/ 200 ft. The latest project, ‘Panamax Ketch’ is a 60 metre sailing yacht constructed of 100% carbon fibre and is on schedule for delivery to the owner in summer 2011.
