POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Oct. 12, 2009 – For 2010, Dometic Marine is introducing a new line of air purification products for boats.

The Breathe Easy™ air purifier uses innovative photocatalytic nano-mesh technology with ultraviolet (UV) light to destroy airborne biological contaminants and odors inside the boat. They have been tested to reduce volatile organic compounds (VOC) by 57 percent and formaldehyde levels by 41 percent within a six-hour period.

“Our Breathe Easy air purifier is engineered to maximize the elimination of contaminants and minimize air flow restrictions. As the marine air conditioning experts, we know the ins and outs of marine air conditioning systems, and therefore were able to design this product to compliment those systems,” said Frank Marciano, president of Dometic Marine.

The Breath Easy air purifier is being sold to OEMs and aftermarket through the Cruisair and Marine Air distribution channels. Breathe Easy is available in two models: in-line ductable with the boat’s air conditioning system or as a stand-alone portable unit. The system operates quietly, and UV lamps are easily replaced when necessary.

In the harsh marine environment, airborne pollutants such as pollen, mold spores, bacteria, viruses, fumes and odors can compromise the health of boaters. With the Breathe Easy, these pollutants are sterilized or molecularly transformed into nontoxic elements using a three-step process.

The non-ozone producing UV light energy kills or sterilizes airborne biological contaminants while activating the titanium-dioxide (TiO2) catalyst on the nano-mesh. This shatters the molecular structures of the pollutants and odors on contact into harmless nontoxic elements. Once passed through the photocatalytic nano-mesh air purifier, the airborne germs and odors are transformed into harmless water vapor or carbon dioxide.

The 3-D photocatalytic nano-mesh structure coated with TiO2 provides maximum surface area for the greatest amount of destruction to airborne contaminants and rarely needs to be cleaned, maintained or replaced. The unique structure of the nano-mesh creates very little static pressure, resulting in little or no air flow reduction.
