Dometic Marine launches the new WAECO CombiPower to the UK leisure market at this year’s Southampton Boat Show. Suitable for boats of 30-45ft (9-14 metres), the new sine wave inverter features an integrated automatic battery charger to ensure boat owners’ access to a continuous and reliable power supply in the event of restricted shore power or mains power failure.
By incorporating a range of innovative features, the sophisticated inverter and battery charger combination constantly monitors the boat’s mains input and responds accordingly. The CombiPower’s ‘power support function’ (PSF) boosts limited power supply via its inverter. If more power is required than the individually adjustable mains input fuse permits, the CombiPower obtains it from the boat’s battery to ensure all on-board appliances can be operated effectively.
Also featuring an ‘uninterrupted power supply’ (UPS) function, the CombiPower ensures the continuous availability of on-board power, which may be critical for appliances such as sensitive electronics. If the external source fails completely, the system’s inverter automatically switches on the UPS function to deliver the power that’s required with a pure sine wave voltage.
Available in both 12 volt and 24 volt models, the WAECO CombiPower delivers a continuous output of 2000 watts. To cater for high start-up currents, a peak output of 3000 watts is achievable for up to three seconds. The 12 volt version can be set between 30 and 100 amps and the 24 volt version between 15 and 50 amps in accordance with user specifications. The system also offers a second charging output for the starter battery which provides a charging current of five amps.
All of the CombiPower’s functions can be easily and quickly programmed by its remote control and can be viewed and reset via its data display. In addition, the system features a CAN bus interface, temperature sensor for regulating the charging voltage, a real-time display for showing the battery voltage and programming of all charging parameters. Cooling of the system is provided via a speed-controlled fan.
