Having this trend in mind, Dometic has introduced a new VARCX/X30 Variable Capacity Chiller and Diesel Fired Heating System engineered to provide cruisers, pleasure boaters and professional mariners alike with energy-efficient climate control under a wide range of real-world conditions.

This advanced new marine climate control solution combines Dometic’s proven and energy-efficient VARCX variable capacity chilled-water cooling system with an innovative low emission diesel fired heating solution developed by the company’s heater division in Vancouver, Canada. The new X30 system is a 31,000 BTU system that has the ability to vary capacity down to 15,000 BTUs.

By supplying only the heating capacity needed based on actual vessel demands, boaters can be assured optimum comfort under a wide range of changing environmental conditions — without sacrificing energy efficient operation.

This new heating system overcomes the inherent limitations of traditional reverse cycle heat and electric immersion heat generation. Reverse cycle heat is limited by seawater temperature and electric immersion heat requires more power to meet heating demands. In addition, Dometic’s unique heating unit uses closed loop combustion control to provide smoke free operation and optimal performance in almost any setting. Utilizing an O2 sensor to monitor exhaust emissions, the smart controls continuously adapt combustion parameters for best possible performance depending on operating temperature, altitude and environment.

By combining these variable capacity cooling and green heating systems into one innovative solution, Dometic has taken marine climate control to new levels of performance and efficiency.
