6300 Miles to Alaska: A Family’s Overlanding Adventure

Embarking on an epic two-week, 6300-mile overlanding journey from Washington to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, our family (@rugged_destinations) of four hit the road in our reliable midsize Jeep Gladiator. Amidst the breathtaking landscapes of British Columbia, the Yukon Territory, Alberta, and Alaska, we faced challenges that pushed us to the limit—battling unpredictable weather, encountering wildlife surprises, and conquering primitive roads. Thriving through 16 days of international travel in tight quarters took meticulous planning. 3. The North Pole in Alaska: A visit to the North Pole beckoned with holiday cheer, reminding us of the magic in every corner of the world.
4. Chena Hot Springs in Fairbanks, AK: This oasis of warmth amid the wilds added a therapeutic touch to our adventure.
5. Dawson City in the Yukon Territory: Welcomed with rustic charm and the thrill of a river ferry crossing, Dawson City charmed us.
6. Liard Hot Springs in British Columbia: Warm waters and serene surroundings at Liard Hot Springs soothed our souls.
7. Whitehorse, Yukon Territory: A transportation museum in Whitehorse intertwined history and innovation, offering a unique perspective.
8. Dinosaur Museum in Wembley, Alberta: Turning back the clock to an era long past, this museum added an educational touch to our journey.
9. Prudhoe Bay: As we plunged into the Arctic Ocean, surrounded by a distant wall of sea ice, we celebrated reaching our halfway point, marking a significant milestone in our epic adventure.
