PROBLEM: Tanks spits at the end of the filling process but the sections written above say it should not.

The tank may be getting too full. This could be one of several problems.

  1. The tank is not a new diurnal and has no means to shut off the fuel as do the new tanks.
  2. There is no ICV in the fill hose or neck. Look for external ICV or remove hose at fill neck and see if one of the new in-hose ICVs is placed in the hose just up from the fill neck. If fill neck is an aluminum type screwed down to the top of the tank with six screws, the ICV will be attached to the end of that aluminum component. If no ICV, add one to the fill line.
  3. ICV is not working correctly and sealing when tank is full. Replace and see if it fixes the issue.
  4. FLVV/FLV is not working to close venting when tank is full as it should do. Read section above on testing FLVV/FLV.
  5. Fuel system design may not be adequate. Contact the boat’s manufacturer and then the fuel system designer.
