A Silent Rebellion
Everyone’s heard the climate crisis statistics. We’ve all read the headlines. But through their tender personal experiences, intimate photography and moving film – Geoff and Kitalé Wilson aren’t telling facts. They’re sharing stories. Stories that make the enormity of what we’re all facing more real than facts and figures can. And for us, that’s the power of Project Zero.
Project Zero. A father. A son. A multi-year net-zero odyssey to the furthest flung reaches of the globe In this second chapter we followed, Geoff and Kitale Wilson, as they embark on a North-South crossing of Iceland. Their journey aims to explore and travel the world sustainably while documenting the impacts of climate change, to bring a new and intimate relatability to the stark realities of climate change.
“As a young person you’re cognitively aware climate change is happening. We’ve never known any different. But dad has. He’s seen what it was like before. Knowing a once mighty glacier has been reduced to such fragility in just a fraction of his lifetime – that really affects you.”
Kitalé Wilson
The expedition began on horseback, as Geoff and Kitale move through the rolling hills and deep valleys of Northern Iceland, just inside the Arctic Circle. Travelling further into the interior, the lush greens give way to the stark and colorless backdrop of the Highlands.
At a Highland farm, Geoff and Kitale hitch their horses and set off to summit and cross Vatnajökull Glacier using skis and kites. Vatnajökull, sitting atop eight volcanoes, represents the geographical and narrative climax of their expedition. Standing atop one of the world's largest and fastest-receding glaciers, they feel its significance beneath their feet before quietly taking their leave.
Descending to the southern coast of Iceland, Geoff and Kitale are greeted by dramatic black sand beaches and quaint fishing villages. This journey is a testament to outdoor skills, knowledge, physical and mental resilience. Awe and ambition.
When facing the unpredictability of the most vulnerable environments on earth, confidence counts. But confidence isn’t just the physical and psychological reassurance letting you push that bit harder because you can know your kit can keep up. It’s something more. It’s the freedom to be present. In every breathtaking moment. When you trust 100% in your gear you’ve got less things to think about. And that means more to experience. Isn’t that why we all get out there in the first place?
Confidence. Gear that do the job.
Fragile world. Tough kit.
An expedition on this scale demands mind-blowing levels of experience and technique. That comes entirely from Geoff, Kitalé and their unstoppable support team. But there’s one thing we definitely could contribute. To give Confidence in Dometic gear. Gear to transform their support vehicle into a moving base camp. A production house, kitchen and storage facility in one. Gear to complete this expedition. Pack away. Then face the next. Gear to journey alongside them. That they never have to doubt. Just trust.
“Having gear you know will last the expedition alongside you is everything. It lends you confidence.”
Kitalé Wilson
This is the second time Dometic has supported Project Zero’s ambition and adventure, and we hope it’s just the beginning. We want everyone, from global expeditioners to weekend hikers, to have long-lasting, meaningful relationships with their gear. Choosing kit that lasts makes a difference, enhancing experiences and treading lightly through a fragile world.
It’s why we design and engineer products that are part of your planning. That enhance your experience. That store patiently for the next adventure, ready whenever you are. Because treading lightly through a fragile world starts with choosing tougher. Buying well, less often. Using it way more often. Call us optimistic. But we can’t help hoping the longer our gear lasts, the longer there’ll be places left to use it.
Project Zero
AWE. AMBITION. AND ADVENTURE.
Geoff and Kitale’s journey through Iceland is a powerful reminder of the beauty, fragility, and transformative power of the natural world. Their story is an expedition for everyone, bringing the realities of climate change to life in a way that statistics and headlines cannot. We don’t mind saying we are in awe. Of the team. Of their outdoor skill and knowledge. Their physical and mental resilience. Their ambition. And of how, by sharing their extraordinary experiences, they bring the raw beauty, extreme fragility yet transformative power of the natural world to us all. Few of us are global expeditioners. But we are all part of this.
Dometic has together with FrontRunner supplied and installed equipment like racks, storage, CFX5 electric cooler, hydration, and tents and shelter to support the team in preparing for the journey. cutting-edge products designed for environmentally conscious explorers.

About Geoff Wilson
Geoff Wilson is a polar explorer with an impressive list of achievements, including 'The Longest Unsupported Polar Journey in Human History,’ ‘The First Unsupported Summit of Dome Argus, Antarctica,' and 'The Fastest Unsupported Crossing of Greenland South to North'. As a veterinary surgeon, Geoff brings a scientific approach to the project, coupled with an acute understanding of the ecological impact of global warming gained from his personal experiences in the harshest Arctic zones. This background gives him the wisdom needed for survival in these often unforgiving landscapes.
“In an era where climate change could potentially be the greatest threat facing humanity, Project Zero seeks to create pathways for open dialogue and examine solutions to this crisis.”
