Ultimate 5.5m Console Boat Featuring Dometic

Discover how Matt Furphy’s custom 5.5m console boat, built around a Dometic fridge and SeaStar Xtreme Jack Plate, combines cutting-edge features like Wi-Fi control and enhanced handling.

A 5.5m  side-console Archer, this boat is built for both performance and comfort, crafted by Hewat's Plate Boats. Matt has turned his dream boat into a masterpiece featuring a Dometic fridge and a Dometic SeaStar Xtreme Jack Plate, creating the perfect balance of style and functionality.

The Decked-Out Dream: 90% Deck, 100% Fishing

This boat is a build for any passionate angler. It includes a custom-built deck ideal for lure fishing. With 90% deck space, it provides ample room for casting and maneuvering, allowing anyone to fish with ease. Every inch of the boat has been designed with precision, “making it one of the best 5.5m consoles in the country” says Matt.

Temperature Control with a Touch: The Dometic Fridge

One of the standout features is the Dometic fridge, which has been carefully positioned at the heart of this vessel. The fridge is Wi-Fi-enabled, allowing you to control the temperature from anywhere, right from your phone. This cutting-edge technology not only adds convenience but also ensures that everything stays perfectly chilled while out on the water. Whether it’s for keeping bait fresh or enjoying a cold beverage, the Dometic fridge is central to Matt's on-water experience.

Enhanced Boat Handling: The Dometic Seastar Extreme Jack Plate

To elevate his boat’s performance, Matt chose the Dometic Seastar Xtreme Jack Plate, a 4-inch hydraulic marvel designed to improve handling and maneuverability. This jack plate allows for optimal engine height adjustments, enhancing the boat's speed, fuel efficiency, and shallow-water capabilities.

What sets this setup apart is the dual trim/jack plate control switches, which offer operation from both the front of the boat and the helm. This level of control gives any boater the flexibility to handle different water conditions with ease, ensuring a smooth and responsive boating experience.

A Personal Story and Unique Design

Matt Furphy’s boat is not just about high-tech equipment; it's also a reflection of his journey and personal style. In an upcoming issue of The Captain, his story unfolds, touching on his lifelong battle with cancer and the indigenous artwork on his boat, designed by a local artist. This piece of cultural significance adds a touch of "salty goodness," making his vessel not only a performance powerhouse but also a tribute to resilience and creativity.
